ABOUT US

Central Avalon Ground Search and Rescue (CAGSAR) is a group of volunteers who assist the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the search for lost persons. We also assist Transport Canada with Safe Boating displays and courtesy boat inspections. We are affiliated with the Newfoundland and Labrador Ground Search and Rescue Association, the Provincial  Department of Justice, the National Search and Rescue Secretariat, and the Search and Rescue Volunteer Association of Canada.

Based out of Conception Bay Center, Newfoundland, Canada, we are tasked by the Avalon East District of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Besides assisting the R.C.M.P. in the ground search and rescue of lost persons, we provide assistance in evidence searches, traffic control and first aid. We also offer to the public information on Boating Safety and for the younger members of the community, a Hug-A-Tree program.
